Tony Dawson serves as Director of LandMarkers Hospitality Group, and is a member of the Development and Investor Holdings Teams. Mr. Dawson concurrently is the Managing Partner of Carefree Hospitality.
Tony Dawson has 35+ successful years of experience in the luxury hospitality, resort and private club industry. Tony has opened and operated over twenty of the finest private communities in the US, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Most recently Tony served as CEO of The Santa Lucia Preserve, a master planned community in Carmel CA that shares stewardship of a 20,000 acre preserve and its traditions.
For over 15 years Tony Dawson performed due diligence and asset management on hospitality assets for Morgan Stanley. Tony has held senior positions at Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts in Texas and served as Vice President of Operations for six Jack Tar Village Caribbean Resorts. He served as Chief Operating Officer of the Cordillera Group, responsible for five projects in Colorado and Northern California, including the Cordillera community near Vail.
Prior to joining Cordillera, Tony was Vice President of Hospitality for The Woodlands Operating Company, with management responsibilities for three Texas resort and conference centers. At The Woodlands he also initiated development of a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course and the Carlton Woods Country Club, which hosted the 1999 Shell Houston Open.
Earlier Tony Dawson served as the General Manager of The Boulders in Scottsdale. His first tenure in Carmel involved serving as Vice President and Managing Director at Carmel Valley Ranch Resort where he guided the redevelopment and management for 6 years. Tony was instrumental in the structuring and opening of Mayacama, a members-only, gated retreat with private golf and lodging club in the heart of Northern California’s picturesque wine country. Mayacama has 65 residences on 675 acres and boasts a European spa, swim & tennis center, hidden trails, a clubhouse with sweeping views, and charming Mediterranean-influenced Villas.
Prior to Mayacama, Tony also contributed to the development of the Dallas National Golf Club and managed Cypresswood Golf Club in Houston, Texas. Tony’s other involvement includes working to reinvigorate Marshall Ranch at Lake Travis, a resort community in the Austin area with a new Gary Player-designed private golf club.
Tony originally hails from Sydney, Australia, where he was an avid rugby and tennis player. He is a world class tennis player with the United States Tennis Association where he has been ranked #1 and has won three world cup team championships in the seniors 60’s Age Division, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
